All About WordPress4.0 "Benny"

Undoubtedly WordPress is the most popular Content Management System when it comes to websites and blogs. The web design community has been long waiting for the release of the latest version of WordPress, in eagerness to know the improvements that have been made to the most proposal CMS.

On Sep 04, 2014, WordPress released its latest version- WordPress 4.0 also called “Benny”– named after jazz musician and bandleader Benny Goodman

Many consider this as a major release since it includes some good features which ease the task of the users – especially the blog writers and blog managers.

Below are the main features in this version of WordPress, which was released by the WordPress team led by Helen Hou-Sandi. This version, is, in fact, the result of the tireless efforts of 275 contributors.

A new ‘Language Selection’ panel which allows users to choose the language settings or change the same, if already installed.
A new grid layout view for the media library, which makes managing media files faster and easier.
An improved content editor which now could be resized. This improves the editing experience since it\’s top & and bottom bars pin and users don\’t need to scroll the whole page anymore..
This version provides the ability to live preview any embedded oEmbed URL directly within your visual editor, which makes it to embed URLs from YouTube Flickr, Vimeo, Twitter, SlideShare etc.
There also have been improvements on the interaction of keyboard & cursor with TinyMCE views like gallery preview.
New visual experience to the Plugins installs section with a new grid layout.
WordPress 4.0 also comes with a new widget Customizer Panel and API
“Benny” also comes with Updated External Libraries, which ships with updates to TinyMCE 4.1.3, jQuery 1.11.1 and MediaElement 2.15

Apart from the major features listed above, this release also comes with hundreds of refinements made to the features already present in the previous WordPress versions.
